The Portland Bowl (a teams event for universities) was won this year by Durham University, represented by a team containing an Essex player, Dominic Maloney.
Well done - this is probably the first time that Essex has had a player in the winning team in this event.

Many congratulations to Audrey Hartley who, as a result of the earlier trials, was selected to play in the England team for the Lady Milne trophy.   The great news is that they won, beating Scotland, Wales, NI and ROI.

Well done to Laurie and Stephanie Burtt, who came 3rd in the Portland Pairs Trophy, which is the National Mixed Pairs Championship.

Two Essex pairs, Dave Duffy & Bernard Harrison and Cecil Leighton & Jacek Lapszys have qualified for the final of the National Pairs competition.   We wish them the very best of luck in this.

Well done to Richard Perryman and Linda Moran on finishing in 6th place in the London One Day Green Pointed Swiss Pairs.

After the second and final round of the Lady Milne Trophy, (national trials competition open only to ladies), Audrey Hartley and her partner finished 2nd, losing to the winners by a very narrow margin, and Nicole Cook and her partner finished in 6th place.   Many congratulations to both ladies.

In the Lanzarote EBU overseas congress, there were some very good results for Essex players; Martin and Sandy Smith won the Pre-Congress Pairs, and Margaret Curtis and Albert Kitchin were 6th equal in the Swiss Pairs, 6th in the Mixed Pairs and 3rd in the Swiss Teams.
